Tasty Weekend

Last weekend we had Phil and Judy over, and in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary we celebrated with gyoza dumplings and spicy tuna rolls. Judy ended up shaping most of the dumplings-- she did a good job.
Saturday night Joe did up probably his best BBQ ribs for us. They were so good... the only picture we managed to snap was this one of all bones. Anyway, it was a fun and tasty weekend with Phil and Judy.

Sledding!

Once again it's mid January and we felt the need to sled down our hill. Yesterday in honor of Heikki Lunta (regional Finnish winter celebrations), we had some friends over for Gyoza dumplings, Okonomiyaki, and Spam musubi. At the last minute the city had to cancel the winter firework display, which we would have been able to enjoy from our front porch. A disappointing ending..., but the most important thing: we all had a great time.

Happy New Year... Belated

We hope everyone had wonderful holidays and has had a healthy new year so far. Joe was sick over the New Year's, not from partying but unfortunately from a stomach flu. So we stayed in, watching movies on Netflix, curled up in blankets. It wasn't all that bad because it was pretty cold outside. (I was wishing to have a lazy day to do absolutely nothing after a busy holiday season at work.)
And 2015 so far has been a repeat of the last winter: super cold sub-zero temp weather. Schools were canceled 3 days (Mon. through Wed.) this week due to the wind chill.
In the middle of a sunny day, our back door window was frosted over completely. The temp that day did not reach zero.
Just yesterday we finally celebrated our New Year in the right way. Spicy tuna rolls and a very nice bottle of sake. Happy Healthy New Year to everyone!
